Today is my first blog. I got an article in my email this morning (see below) and, as so often, wished that I could share it with all of our OFD (Organic Food Depot) customers. There is so much going on in the world of food, and who is doing what to the products we use, that just trying to keep track of it is a full time job. All of you who shop with us have full time jobs/lives already, and while I know you all try to keep up on the latest breaking food news, there is only so much you can do in one day.
I would love to see this blog become collaborative, although I am not even sure what that means. I do food, not computers. I would like it to serve as a central source for all of our (yours and mine) collected latest info, so that if you get updates and news that I haven't heard yet, and it is verifiable, then we can share it here.
I promise that what I offer will be honest and true to the best of my ability to determine. It will be the same information that I base my buying on, both for the stores and for the food I feed my family. I will always try to give you links and references so that you can follow the trail yourself.
Now, back to what got me going in the first place. Apparently lots of the olive oils (some of which we offer at OFD) are adulterated with other oils. It's all there in the article from Natural News.com. I realize now that I have been really naive about olive oil.
The good news is, we can get California Olive Ranch olive oils, and I will bring the Extra Virgin and Extra Virgin Mild into both stores. Some of them are on sale on the OFD website this month, so now would be a great time to try them out.
This article came to me from my morning edition of the SchwartzReport. Follow his links and others from the Calif Olive Ranch website for some truly hair raising info on olive oil adulteration.
